Former AFL player and coach Danny Frawley says Ben Cunnington of North Melbourne should be rated as an elite midfielder of the competition.

Frawley likened the Kangaroos inside midfielder to two-time Brownlow Medallist Greg ‘Diesel’ Williams and applauded his clean ball skills and match awareness.

“I keep watching him, I think he has the cleanest hands in the game,” Frawley told SEN Breakfast this morning.

“Not only the one-touch, it’s a bit Greg Williams-like the vision he has when he turns his body under extreme heat and get it out to a runner. It is elite.”

Alongside Frawley, Nick Dal Santo also had high praise for another North Melbourne player.

“Speaking of underrated players, Robbie Tarrant – he is a colossus down there, he is fantastic,” Dal Santo said.

Frawley agreed, saying Tarrant has been on the fringe of the last two All-Australian teams.

“He’s my love-child at the moment.” Frawley said.

Many people wrote them off before the season started but North Melbourne are 2-2 after the first four rounds of the year.

They face a tough month of footy ahead with matches against Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, Sydney and Richmond, but Dal Santo is willing to give the Kangaroos a chance.

“It’s a big month, but I think we’ve learned already from the first month that you don’t need to be too far off your best to be made to look pretty foolish.”
