Burgess, 28, was traded from the Gold Coast Suns at the end of 2023. He has played 36 AFL-level games since debuting in 2019.
He has proven that he can play at both ends of the ground and was a crucial player in Gold Coast's 2023 VFL Premiership where he kicked three goals. He also has claimed the past two Jim โFrosty' Miller Medals as the VFL's leading goal kicker.
Burgess was brought into the side to replace key forwards Taylor Walker and Riley Thilthorpe who will both not play this weekend due to injury.
The Crows forward line will have to step up this weekend to fill the gap of Walker and Thilthorpe being out. It's likely Izak Rankine will spend a lot more time down in the forward line.
Also, Ben Keays and Darcy Fogarty will need to shoulder more of the load in the Crows' forward line to replace the large figure and voice of Walker.
Burgess will take the field wearing his new club's jersey as he plays against his old side for the first time this Saturday, March 16 on the Gold Coast.
