The Adelaide Crows have confirmed that defender Jordon Butts will make his in Sunday's clash against Geelong.

The Crows' ninth debutant this season, Butts was drafted by the club with pick No. 39 in the 2018 Rookie Draft.

Coach Matthew Nicks confirmed on Friday afternoon that Butts would play his first AFL game on the weekend.

“Butts will debut. Just gave him an opportunity to kick a goal to get in (the team),” Nicks told reporters on Friday.

“He missed, but he’s playing down back, so hopefully he learns from that one if he gets an opportunity on Sunday.”

Butts could come in for veteran backman Danial Talia, who has been suffering from general soreness.

The Crows will give Talia every chance to get up for the Cats clash.

“Talia’s probably 50-50 at the moment. He’s going to train tomorrow,” Nicks said.

“He got some run-throughs done today, moved pretty well. Obviously a really important one for us with (Tom) Hawkins being in such good form.

“Tals has taken that match-up in the past and done really well. It’s a huge challenge, especially with the form he’s in at the moment.”

Adelaide meets Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Sunday at 1.05pm AEST.
