Collingwood is set to negotiate a new deal for controversial star Jordan De Goey to remain at the Pies which will require the 26-year-old to accept triggers and clauses in his contract that revolve around off-field conduct.

After an incident during a mid-season trip in Bali in June, De Goey, who is entering the off-season as a restricted free agent, had a contract extension offer from the club withdrawn as the Magpies mulled over their next move.

Despite looking almost certain to leave the AIA Centre at season's end, Collingwood has reportedly had a change of heart towards De Goey given his uptick in form on the field and minimal off-field chatter since his return to the side.

According to the Herald Sun's Jon Ralph and Chris Cavanagh, a new deal offered by Collingwood is likely to be similar to that of the offer withdrawn earlier in the season - reportedly worth $800,000 a season for two years.

Any new deal will almost certainly have clauses relating to off-field behaviour and could reportedly have penalty clauses included.

Collingwood is prepared to wait until the end of the season before negotiating the new deal with De Goey and his management, as the green light will be required from the board to approve the deal given De Goey's past.

While De Goey is believed to be keen to stay at the Pies, St Kilda remains the likely landing spot should the forward-turned-midfielder depart, where he would be offered a long-term deal at the Saints.

Meanwhile, the Herald Sun also reported that Brisbane key forward Dan McStay is set for a widely reported move to the Pies for 2023 as a free agent, with electric small forward Bobby Hill also destined to make the switch to the club from GWS.

The Magpies are big fans of Hill's speed and foot skills and will look to orchestrate a trade this off-season to secure his services.

Last season, Collingwood made a late play for Hill during the trade period after his preferred move to the Bombers fell through but were unsuccessful, however are now set to finally get their man.
