Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard has sent a shock through the Magpies camp after he appeared to injure his knee during a training incident on Saturday.
The tough defender was nearly ready to return to the senior side for the club's Friday night match against Brisbane.
Instead, the Pies decided to take a tactful approach and keep him rested for the Wildcard Round.
However, his availability is in serious jeopardy after he re-injured his knee during a tackle.
The 29-year-old will now be sent for scans and appears unlikely to be fit to play in Collingwood's Wildcard Round match against either Carlton or the Western Bulldogs next weekend.
Maynard originally injured his knee during the club's Round 20 win over Adelaide.
Collingwood has a number of players under an injury cloud heading into next weekend's do-or-die clash.

Veteran Scott Pendlebury injured his knee early in Friday night's clash against Brisbane and is in serious doubt of playing against the Blues or Dogs.
Midfielder Patrick Lipinski, like Maynard, had a chance to return against the Lions but was rested to give him more time to recover from a calf injury.
Defender Isaac Quaynor likewise was given another week to recover from a glute/hip injury, with the 26-year-old a likely test for the final.
Wingman Harry Perryman is unlikely to be ready in time for the Wildcard Round clash as he recovers from a hamstring injury.
