Collingwood and Bobby Hill have come to terms on an exit, with the Norm Smith Medallist to depart as a delisted player, meaning he will qualify as a delisted free agent.
It is understood Hill is keen to continue playing at a third club, with sides in Queensland and Port Adelaide floated as potential landing spots.
The former Giant had a contract until the end of 2030 worth around $750,000 per season.
According to AFL Media, both parties have agreed to tear up the contract.
Hill hasn't played an AFL game this year. He featured in the VFL three times but failed to consistently show up to training.
Last week, Pies coach Craig McRae was emotional regarding the fact the small forward was bound to depart the club.
I haven't seen Bobby in the building for a while, which is always something as a coach (which makes you go) ‘I hope the young lad's okay,” McRae said on Tuesday.
We've got a lot of love and care for you, Bobby, and still do; that never changes or waivers in our love and support for the young man.
“The other part is completely out of my hands. I'm not privy to any conversations like that around management and other things, so I leave others to do those things.
“We just try to provide a platform where Bobby feels safe and a sense of belonging.
“He's a premiership player and a Norm Smith Medallist; he'll forever be welcome in our four walls, whatever that looks like in the future.”
Collingwood president Craig Kelly also recently spoke on Hill's exit.
“We continue to work through the last bits of that … we think we have done the right thing by him,” Kelly said to the Herald Sun.
“All I would say is that the amount of energy and work that (footy boss) Charlie Gardiner, (key executive) Susan Harper, our doctors, our psych and our people have worked through to support and coach (Hill) has been outstanding.
"I hope he plays somewhere else at some point. We hope in time that he wants to come back (to Collingwood) and be a part of a premiership reunion.”
Geelong is working through a similar situation with small forward Tyson Stengle.
Stengle played in Geelong's 2022 premiership but has been away from the club at different stages on personal leave this season, last appearing at AFL level in last year's grand final.
The AFL's own website is reporting that despite having three years to run on his deal, an end to his time at the Cattery is being worked towards.
