Collingwood have opened talks with Sydney over a trade deal for Swans forward Jack Buller.
The Magpies are 'hoping' to have an agreement settled early into the trade period, which opened on Monday, however understand the Swans are in discussions with multiple other clubs over various deals.
Buller has informed Collingwood he wishes to join the club after two-and-a-half years and 10 games, with the Magpies opening a void in attack with the imminent departure of Brody Mihocek to Melbourne.
"I'm hoping we get Jack done as soon as possible," Collingwood list lead Justin Leppitsch said.
"But we have to appease the Swans. We've had a really quick chat to them about that, and they also have a few things going on.
"You always want it done on day one. I'm sure the player wants it done on day one as well, but it's not always the case."

Leppitsch has listed Buller as a great fit for the club, who hold the view that the Western Australian adds youth to their list but is ready-made.
"We feel he's not a kid, but he's also a good player. We've watched him a lot this season, and he plays like us," Leppitsch added.
"He's a 199(cm), competitive player in the air and on the ground.
"I think he'll suit us really well."
Leppitsch confirmed Mihocek's move to the Demons will rely on whether Melbourne look to trade for the veteran forward rather than sign him through free agency.
A free agency acquisition would see the Demons' compensation for the loss of Charlie Spargo to North Melbourne through the same mechanism diluted.
"Unsure. We've had one quick chat with Melbourne about that," Leppitsch said.

"(They've) flagged the possibility of it being a trade, but we'll go through that."
One Magpie facing an uncertain future is Mason Cox, who has been told he can look elsewhere on the open market.
Collingwood are weighing up their final list spots for 2026, with Cox told to "wait" before understanding where he'll play next year.
"He's a wait, unfortunately," Leppitsch said of the American.
"You hate to have that as a condition of players that have been at the club for such a long period of time - premiership players and important guys.
"But it's going to be a list spot thing for Mason. He's aware of that, and he just wants to go through the process.
"He really wants to still be on the list next year, but that's a decision probably for the end of the trade period."
Veteran midfielder Tom Mitchel finds himself in a similar position, but is yet to earn a rival suitor.
