Collingwood has picked up Ben Hart as an assistant coach as he departs GWS after four seasons in New South Wales.
Hart, who was previously at the Pies during the Nathan Buckley era (2012-2016), joined the Giants ahead of 2023, working across the midfield and backline groups.
The former Adelaide great also spent time at the Crows in two separate stints (2008 to 2011 and between 2018 and 2020).
“I have loved my time at the club,” he said.
“I'm really thankful to Jase [Jason McCartney] and Kingers [Adam Kingsley] for giving me the opportunity to be part of the GIANTS, and to everyone at the club for the support they've shown me and for making me feel so welcome from day one.
“I've met some great people and made some really strong friendships during my time here, and that's something I'll always be grateful for.
“I leave with a real mix of emotions. There's obviously some sadness in leaving a club and people I've grown so close to over the past four years, but there's also excitement for what's ahead.”
Collingwood retained highly-rated assistant Hayden Skipworth as well as Jordan Roughead, with the pair garnering interest from around the AFL.
Midfield coach Matthew Boyd is understood to be moving to the head of development role after Josh Fraser's departure at the start of the year.
“We are excited to welcome Ben and his family back to Collingwood. He's a high calibre person with over three decades of football experience, as a player and coach, and will be a fantastic resource for our players and a valuable addition to our coaching team,” Pies EGM Football Charlie Gardiner said.
“Matt has done an excellent job as an assistant coach with our midfield group over the past two years and his elevation to the Head of Development role is a significant appointment for the Club. The role will play an important and influential part in our program over the coming years and Matt's ability to build strong relationships with our players combined with his passion for developing talent make him a fantastic fit for the role.”
Hart isn't the only coaching departure from the Giants, joining Brett Montgomery, who left to return to South Australia.
Craig Jennings also left GWS, leaving the midfield and transition coaching group.
They did add Adam Read as an assistant from Fremantle.
Read spent the past 19 years at the Dockers, and was in charge of the club's Peel Thunder side in the WAFL in the past few seasons.
