GWS football boss Jason McCartney has confirmed the club will welcome Peel Thunder premiership coach Adam Read.
Read has been with Fremantle for nearly two decades and was a long-time development coach, recruiter and analyst before assuming responsibility for the WAFL side.
Peel have won two of the past three flags under Read.
The Giants are looking to fill the void of senior assistant Brett Montgomery, who is heading back to South Australia.
"We have only made the one change with our coaching group, and that was Brett Montgomery going back to South Australia," McCartney said on AFL Trade Radio.
"We'll announce that Adam Read from the Fremantle Football Club will be joining us. Adam's been at Fremantle for 16 years in a variety of roles.
"He's been with Ross Lyon in strategy roles and then the last five years he's been in development, and the last three he's been coaching Peel to two WAFL premierships."
The Giants are also on the hunt for more ruck depth after farewelling Kieren Briggs in the off-season.
GWS favoured Nick Madden over the departing Briggs, who is set to join Richmond as a free agent.
Madden signed a four-year extension.
But the club has been linked to Tim English and Rowan Marshall, while Sydney's Peter Ladhams could also be an option given he's struggled for senior minutes in the last three years (13 games).
English has links to New South Wales via his partner, while Marshall has officially requested a trade away from St Kilda.
Geelong is the leading candidate for the tall Saint.
"In an ideal world, we'd love to have another one to bolster that part of the ground (ruck)," McCartney said.
"Tim (English) came up early, and we moved quickly to explore, but the Bulldogs shut it down quickly.
"Rowan Marshall wants to make a move, but we are not getting indications it would be north across the border, but we will continue to monitor that."
McCartney also addressed Lachie Whitfield's future as Carlton, Melbourne and St Kilda circle.
"With Lachie (Whitfield), we know he has another year on his contract; his name came up with other clubs. It depends what is put forward to see if we'd do something there," he said.
"Lachie and family at some stage will return to Victoria, and this is now a consideration for him, but we will determine the outcome."
McCartney also confirmed Harry Himmelberg and Stephen Coniglio will be at the club in 2027.
Coniglio will be the last inaugural Giant after Toby Greene exercised his free agency rights, joining Geelong after 15 years.
Greene will unite with Jeremy Cameron, who was also part of the club's 2012 Round 1 team.
