Collingwood have announced their new guernsey numbers for 2023 for several recruits, while Brayden Maynard is set to make the switch from number 37 to 4 in 2023.

Draftees Ed Allan (16), Jakob Ryan (24) and Joe Richards (29) have all been handed their numbers for their debut seasons, as have incoming Pies Tom Mitchell (6), Billy Frampton (17), Daniel McStay (11) and Bobby Hill (23).

Mitchell's number 6, after wearing the number 3 at Hawthorn, was previously worn by his father Barry when he played for Collingwood in 1993.

Maynard, who made his debut in 2015, said he felt "lucky" switching to the number 4.

"I wore the number 4 growing up and it means a lot to me," Maynard said.

"Coming into the club, I always said the only number I would ever change to (from 37) was 4.

"I'm very happy and I feel lucky to be in this number."

Hawthorn have also unveiled new numbers for a host of draftees, while two other players have switched digits.

Draftees Cam Mackenzie (28), Josh Weddle (37), Bailey Macdonald (42), Jack O'Sullivan (43), Henry Hustwaite (44) and Josh Bennetts (41) were given their locker numbers, while new recruits Karl Amon (10), Lloyd Meek (17), Cooper Stephens (21) and Fergus Greene (26) also received their new numbers in Hawks colours.

Jai Newcombe will run out next season in a new number after a breakout year, making the switch from 44 to 3, recently vacated by Hawk-turned-Magpie Mitchell.

Young ruck Ned Reeves has also made a switch, ditching the 37 to wear the 7, previously worn by former ruckman and captain Ben McEvoy.
