Collingwood great Nathan Buckley will pull on the boots for local club Nilma Darnum this year after being taken at Pick 1 in the 2023 Carlton Draft.

The Carlton Draft initiative sees six AFL greats play one-off games for six local Victorian clubs following over 300 entries into the competition.

Nilma Darnum (Pick 1), Carngham Linton (2), Buchan (3), Murrabit (4), Maryborough Rovers (5) and Moyston Willaura (6) all won selections, with the pool of talent consisting of Nathan Buckley, Jordan Lewis, Josh P. Kennedy, Bernie Vince, Kane Cornes and David Mundy.

Nilma Darnum, a club out of the Ellinbank & District Football League, won the rights to the first selection and chose Buckley atop the draft board.

Carngham Linton followed with Pick 2 and selected Mundy, before Lewis rounded out the top three with a selection from Buchan.

Kennedy (Murrabit), Vince (Maryborough Rovers) and Cornes (Moyston Willaura) finished the draft at Picks 4, 5 and 6 respectively.
