A touching act of kindness between a Collingwood staff member and Scott Selwood has been revealed.

The Selwood family is currently facing unimaginable grief following the passing of Troy and Adam Selwood, who were sadly just months apart.

Scott, who has served as an assistant coach at the Pies, is slowly working towards a return to a full-time capacity after taking some time to deal with the tragedies.

At the time of Adam's passing, Scott promptly made his way to Western Australia and subsequently left his car at the AIA Centre for several weeks.

Fellow assistant coach and colleague Hayden Skipworth, according to Channel 9's Tom Morris, opted to get the car cleaned and topped it up with petrol.

"What I can tell you tonight is that on the day Adam unfortunately passed away, Scott was in at the club, they were playing that day at the MCG, so he left his car at the club, and he hasn't been back at the club until recently," Morris told Nine'sย Footy Furnace.

"Hayden Skipworth, who is an assistant coach at Collingwood, he took Scott Selwood's car, he got it cleaned, he filled it up with petrol, and he did everything he could to make sure that when Scott got back to the club, his car was ready to go.

"I mean, that is one of the nicest things you can do for someone that has been through absolute heartbreak."

Collingwood coach Craig McRae spoke on the prospect of Selwood returning to the club at last week's press conference, but understood that he's not quite ready yet.

"We just have a lot of love and support (for Scott) and appreciation and thought for what he has been going through," McRae told reporters.

"To see him show some resilience is probably inspiring for many.

"He's not in full time as yet, but we're looking forward to the opportunity to have him back full time."
