Former West Coast forward and Coleman Medallist Scott Cummings believes Eagles star forward Josh Kennedy is a more complete player than Sydney superstar Lance Franklin.
Franklin currently leads the Coleman Medal standings with 17 goals across the opening four rounds, while Kennedy made his return from injury on Saturday night, booting five goals in his first game of the season in a demolition job against the Suns.
Speaking to Footy WA, Cummings was asked which player between the two he would prefer in his side right at this moment, and while he admits Buddy would have been the man in previous years, Kennedy is showing enough already to suggest he could be a better selection.
โWhen you compare the two and ask yourself who you would want in your side right now, in the past it would have been Buddy all day everyday,โ Cummings told Footy WA.
โThere is now an absolute argument for Kennedy that he is more of a complete player than Buddy Franklin. If the balls on the ground Iโd have Kennedy and in the air I would probably have Kennedy.
โBuddyโs a freak and we probably wonโt see the like of him again, but thereโs an argument for Kennedy to be in that bracket.โ
Both players have incredible goal records, with Franklin booting an average of 3.2 goals a game over his career, while Kennedy has 2.5 a game in his 208-game career.
AFL fans will miss out on seeing the two spearheads face off this season, after Kennedy missed their only clash for 2018 in round one.
Franklin booted eight goals in Sydney's opening round 29-point win over the Eagles at Optus Stadium.
