In an anonymous AFL.com.au survey, 86 percent of the 15 coaches who were surveyed said they are in favour of clubs being able to trade players without their permission.

Only one coach who was surveyed was against the idea, while another stated it should only be allowed after a player has played a certain amount of years in the competition.

Another also agreed to the proposed idea, but maintained that it should only be for players above a certain salary.

In the AFL, players are required to consent to a trade before moving clubs, even if they are out of contract.

Compensation picks as a result of trades were also a topic in the survey, with three coaches against the use of compensation picks, three saying they should only be for restricted free agents leaving, one saying that the picks should only come in for unrestricted free agents, while a further eight coaches were on board with the current set up.

A mid-season draft will also be returning this year which will add more players on an AFL list, which also led to list sizes as a topic of discussion.

One coach wanted to see a list capped at 31 players on an AFL list, while some coaches wanted to see 40 players and others wanting to see as much as 55 players total per list.
