Jordan Clark will not return for the Cats this season after undergoing surgery on his left elbow.

The young Cat initially injured his arm in a high intensity training before the Round 20 while in a contest with Zac Smith.

The first round draftee played 18 games for Geelong this season and was selected for the AFL's 22under22 side earlier this month.

He returned to the VFL on August 31st but further injured the elbow early in the match.

There was some hope he would return to the field and surgery was delayed, but eventually he went under the knife late last week.

The injury is said to have taken “two thirds of the muscle off the bone.”

Should the Cats fail to overturn the one match ban of Tom Hawkins for striking, Clark would have been a helpful return.

Instead, Geelong will hope that fellow speedster Gary Rohan can return fit from knee injuries that have troubled him in recent weeks.
