Geelong has confirmed there are "thousands of tickets still available" for the club's Round 21 clash with Richmond.

With both clubs well in the hunt for the top four, there have been concerns the Simonds Stadium would be too small to accommodate the expected number of fans.

There have been calls to move the fixture to the MCG to guarantee fans a seat.

But both Geelong and the AFL have rejected the proposal.

"It's not on our radar to be moving it at this stage," then league football operations boss Simon Lethlean said last month.

A Geelong spokesman also said the suggestion that Richmond fans would be denied a ticket has been "completely exposed as untrue".

"Anyone who wants a ticket can get one. They are available."

The club has confirmed there around 3000 unsold tickets for the match.

They have also warned Richmond members wanting to attend to get in early as unsold tickets would be offered to Geelong fans.

The newly renovated stadium can hold 36,000 people.

The last two games between the sides have attracted crowds of above 45,000, while the 2013 fixture attracted over 55,000.

There are plans to expand the stadium to accommodate an additional 40,000 fans by 2019.
