Beloved Carlton veteran Mitch McGovern has earned himself a one-year contract extension at IKON Park.
Deployed in numerous positions across his 11 seasons at the level, McGovern was moved back to the forward line ahead of the 2026 season, after Charlie Curnow headed north.
Approaching his 32nd birthday, McGovern has been renewed since that move, with the side adopting a team-first approach to scoring because of Curnow's defection and the litany of injuries that have afflicted the side at different stages of the season.
McGovern has managed to kick 33 goals so far this season, surpassing the benchmark of 32 he set for himself in 2016, which was his first year of senior football with the Adelaide Crows.

The man affectionately known as "Gov" also played his 150th AFL game in Gather Round.
Footy boss Chris Davies, a man whose hands are full as the club seeks the services of their next coach, was effusive in his praise of the clubman when the extension was announced on Tuesday.
"Mitch has been one of our most consistent performers this year, and what he's done adapting to a new role up forward speaks to his footy smarts and competitiveness," Davies said.
"He's produced arguably his best season in front of goal, but it's the experience and guidance he offers on field that tells you everything about the standard he holds himself to.
"An excellent club person, what he gives to the Blues goes well beyond the field, shown through his character and his outstanding community work. We're pleased he'll be part of what we're building here for another season."
