Carlton fans will notice two new faces in their 2025 season opener on Thursday against Richmond, with former GWS defender Nick Haynes and draftee Lucas Camporeale making their debuts.

Haynes crossed from the Giants in the latest off-season as an unrestricted free agent in an attempt to help bolster Michael Voss' backline.

At his best, the 32-year-old is one of the more impressive intercept defenders in the competition, and will work in tandem with star backman Jacob Weitering.

Haynes played 211 games for GWS, securing an All-Australian blazer and Kevin Sheedy medal in 2020.

Hayes impressed in his sole outing in a Carlton guernsey during the pre-season, amassing 21 touches and 10 marks against his former side.

Joining the former Pick 7 will be father-son selection Lucas Camporeale, who has been named to take on the Tigers on Thursday.

An outside midfielder, Camporeale boasts speed and endurance on the wing, becoming a link between the defence and forward lines and finding himself in the right place at the right time.

The Pick 54 in last year's National Draft was impressed in the club's Community series contest against the Giants, gathering 20 possessions, eight marks and 500 metres gained along the wing.

Camporeale will follow in his father's footsteps, Scott, who played 233 matches in the Navy Blue between 1995 and 2005.

Coach Michael Voss also confirmed that spearhead forward Charlie Curnow will miss the traditional Thursday blockbuster as he builds up his loads following minor knee surgery.

Curnow is in line to return against Hawthorn a week later.
