Hawthorn development coach Daniel Giansiracusa is alive in the race for Carlton's top job.
Giansiracusa has quickly become the forgotten man in the race for an AFL senior coaching role, with Essendon and the Blues narrowing their options down in recent weeks.
The former Bulldog has been largely removed from reports, but according to SEN, he has advanced to the final stages of the Carlton top job along with Corey Enright, James Kelly and James Rahilly.
Caretaker Josh Fraser was formally asked this week to be a part of the process, and will determine his stance after the weekend.
Giansiracusa joined the Hawks ahead of the 2026 season in a bid to bolster his coaching resume after successful stints at the Bulldogs during their premiership win as well as Essendon in recent years.
Giansiracusa spent five seasons with the Bombers, starting with the backline before moving into the midfield.
He was also named the AFL Coaches Association's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2020, and looked after the Footscray Bulldogs in 2019.
It follows a 14-year playing career at the Western Bulldogs, featuring in 265 games and slotting 331 goals.
