Carlton chief executive officer Graham Wright believes that Elijah Hollands' time at the Blues is done.
While Wright said the club is providing Hollands with as much support as it can, he believes Hollands' time at the Blues and likely in the AFL may be over.
Speaking on 3AW's broadcast, Wright was asked directly if he thinks he will see Hollands as a player at the club again.
"I doubt it," Wright said.
"He's still getting plenty of help and support, and that's coming through the club and also to wider than that. He hasn't been back to the club, and he's considering what he does.
"But certainly we're just trying to be there and support him. We'll work out what that looks like from a futuristic point of view a little later on."
Hollands has stepped back from Carlton and the AFL since he had a mental health episode during the club's Round 6 match against Collingwood.
His erratic behaviour in the warm-up and during the game led to serious cause for concern about his well-being.
Carlton's handling of Holland's situation led to a $75,000 fine for the club.
Hollands had previously been vocal about his experiences with mental health.
His contract runs out at the end of the season.
