The VFL finals series has begun with a pair of blowouts in the Wildcard Round.

Seventh-placed Sydney hosted 10th-placed Frankston and tore the Dolphins apart.

The Swans' performance was led by a breakout game from young Jevan Phillipou.

Sydney's forward-midfielder and brother of St Kilda's Mattaes has shown glimpses of his potential in 2026, but his best performance of the season came on Saturday.

Phillipou had 25 disposals and booted 6.3 in a standout performance in red and white.

The 19-year-old was taken with Pick 35 in the 2025 National Draft.

Sydney went on to win the match 22.14 (146) to Frankston's 11.12 (78).

Meanwhile, eighth-placed Williamstown blew Carlton out of the water early to move on to the next round of finals.

The Seagulls kicked 34-3 in the first stanza to build a game-winning gap that helped Williamstown trounce Carlton by 38 points in the end.

Former North Melbourne-listed player Kallan Dawson was a standout for the Seagulls, kicking 5.1 in the victory.

Carlton's Ben Camporeale shone for the Blues as he pushed for senior selection.

The 20-year-old midfielder had 35 disposals and five clearances.

Next weekend, Sydney will play Port Melbourne, while Williamstown will take on Essendon.

Top-of-the-table Geelong will host newcomers Tasmania, and Werribee will welcome Box Hill in the second top-four clash.
