Bulldogs premiership coach Luke Beveridge has been supported by club president Peter Gordon as the long-term option for the club.

Beveridge's contract finishes at the end of next year and the words of support come after three inconsistent seasons ranging from winning a premiership to finishing 13th. Gordon says there is no rush to start discussing a new deal, but he will be the right man for the job.

“I expect him to not move and be coach of the Western Bulldogs for a very long time,” Gordon told the Herald Sun.

“We get on really well and I’m sure when, as both colleagues and friends, when it’s a suitable time for us to have that discussion we’ll do it."

The Bulldogs currently sit 15th on the ladder but remain in the finals picture just two games and percentage out of the top-eight and big wins over Richmond and Brisbane.

The club recently announced their new 'Fightback' guernsey which will be worn in Round 17 to commemorate them avoiding a merger with Fitzroy 30 years ago.
