Brisbane skipper Hugh McCluggage says the privacy and security of the club needs to be lifted in the wake of 'whiteboard gate', whilst confirming that he's reached out to former teammate Jaxon Prior regarding the incident.
During Saturday's clash against Essendon, social media got ahold of the Lions' opposition analysis, detailing the strengths and weaknesses of the Bombers players heading into the game.
It went viral, causing concern among Brisbane figureheads as to how the information was released.
"It was strange when you win a game and come off the ground, and guys get worded up about what's going to get asked," McCluggage said.
"It's something we haven't dealt with before but I think it's obviously regrettable that it got out. It wasn't meant to be in the public. We'll learn from it. The privacy and security needs to be lifted around the place."
Part of that information was Prior's partner being listed as one of his strengths.
The defender spent five seasons at the Lions, playing 39 games before he joined the Bombers as an SSP ahead of 2025.
"I've spoken to Priz," McCluggage said.
"If we had our time again, we wouldn't involved his partner in it. It's as simple as that. But things stand at a really good place. I've called him, I've spoken to him about his partner as well. We'll leave it at that out of respect for them."
McCluggage also vehemently denied that there's cultural issues brewing at the Lions as the AFL investigated youngster Koby Evans' alleged use of a homophobic slur in the VFL.
"I think leaders in every walk of life have a responsibility to call this behaviour and this language out that's offensive to people," he said.
"At the end of the day, we want to create environments where everyone feels welcome, everyone feels safe and we're probably not where we want to be as a society yet in that area.
"It's disappointing it's happening in the AFL environment, and hopefully everyone learns from this, not just elite sports."
