The AFL has reportedly investigated former No.1 draft pick Lachie Whitfield for deliberately hiding from drug testers.

Fairfax reports that Whitfield avoided the tests with the help of former GWS football manager Graeme Allan and former welfare manager, Craig Lambert.

The League has completed its investigation and is considering what action it should take against the trio.

"It is understood there are incriminating text messages between Whitfield and his then girlfriend which are at the centre of the investigation," the report says.

The report claims that Whitfield stayed at Lambert's house in May last year instead of his own, due to the fear that he may fail an illicit drugs test. However, Whitfield claimed that he was at Lambert's house due to the fact he was suffering from a migraine at the time.

The trio could face two to four year bans if found guilty of "deliberately evading or being complicit in seeking to evade a drug test".
