The AFL is investigating a potential COVID breach by Melbourne's Harley Bennell.

The Herald Sun reports the Demons alerted the AFL integrity unit about a potential break to their COVID protocols by Bennell who participated in a drinking session on Saturday.

Melbourne became aware Bennell was drinking away from the club's hub last night.

He was then not allowed to return to the hub as a precaution to prevent potentially infecting teammates.

The incident comes only weeks after Richmond pair Callum Coleman-Jones and Sydney Stack were sent home and suspended for 10 weeks after a fight outside a Gold Coast strip club.
