AFL Hall of Fame legend Malcolm Blight has revealed the side he thinks was the best ever team assembled in VFL/AFL history.

Speaking on This Is Your Sporting Life on SEN, Blight was asked about the greatest ever team in history, and he believes the 1975 North Melbourne premiership team (which he played in) has to be up there.

Legendary coach Ron Barassi led the side littered with Hall of Famers, with Keith Greig, Wayne Schimmelbusch, Doug Wade, Barry Cable, Barry Davis, David Dench and John Rantall all joining Blight in the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

“When people ask me what’s the greatest team you’ve ever seen, the hall of fame is a measurement,” Blight said.

“The 1975 premiership side at North Melbourne, has eight hall of fame members, nine with the coach.

“That is the most decorated team in the history of the game, even in front of the Hawthorn teams that had five or six.”

In the 1975 VFL Grand Final, the Roos defeated Hawthorn 19.8.122 to 9.13.67, for their first ever VFL/AFL flag.
