Son-of-a-gun Alwyn Davey Junior is still to decide whether he will officially nominate Essendon as a father-son selection ahead of November's National Draft, with the teenaged talent claiming his management will have the final say.

As the offspring of former Bombers speedster Alwyn Davey, who donned the sash on 100 occasions between 2007 and 2013, the youngster has a route to Tullamarine available to him.

However, when speaking with News Corp just over a month before draft night, Davey Junior stressed that his agency representation - Hemisphere Management Group - would play a leading hand in deciding where he would land.

โ€œIt really depends on how my managers feel,โ€ Davey stated on what the future held.

โ€œIt's really up to them because they have more of a sense around it than me.

โ€œWe haven't really planned it (a meeting) yet, but it will be coming in a few weeks' time.โ€

As reported byย The Herald Sun,ย Davey has previously met with Essendon powerbrokers, having fledged within the club's Academy due to his lineage.

Having proven his mettle as a speedy midfield-forward hybrid for both Oakleigh and Vic Metro during the year, Dons fans have been left salivating about the prospect of seeing son follow father.

And while Davey's lack of a final decision may have seen red and black hearts skip a beat or two, the youngster stressed that following in his father's footsteps had been a lifelong ambition.

โ€œI'd be proud but my dad would be very proud as well to see me go from watching from the change rooms growing up to playing for the same club as he did,โ€ Davey said.

โ€œI just can't wait for that if it does actually happen and we pull it off.โ€

In a potential two-for-one swoop, Davey's twin brother, Jayden, could also be clad in red and black before the end of the season.

Given updated bidding guidelines on father-son options, Essendon will be required to cover the requisite points for both Davey brothers, should nominations and preferences fall in their favour.

At present, Essendon is currently armed with the 4th, 22nd, 42nd, 62nd and 80th selections, however, a late pick looks likely to make its way to Princes Park in exchange for underutilized Blues midfielder Will Setterfield.ย

A trade for the former Giant appears likely to be made early next week.
