The AFL Players' Association has released a statement in response to an incident that happened during the St Kilda vs. Carlton match at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Marc Murphy was sledged during the match and reportedly took great offensive to what was said, with the AFLPA answering calls from the media that have suggested players should introduce an on-field code of conduct.
AFL Players' Association CEO Paul Marsh made the following statement on aflplayers.com.au.
โIt is important to note that there have been no complaints laid and we have spoken to players at both clubs who donโt wish for any action to be taken.
โItโs our view that on-field incidents are isolated and generally, players show great respect for each other.
โWith respect to a potential playersโ code, we can see both the opportunity and challenges in how it might work and we will discuss its merits with our board and players during mid-season club visits before finalising any position.โ
