GWS forward Jake Stringer has announced he will likely leave the Giants at the end of the season and return home to be closer to family in Victoria.

During a press conference on Thursday ahead of his 250th game, Stringer said Saturday's match against Adelaide would likely be his last at the Giants.

Stringer has had one of the best seasons of his career, booting 42 goals from 22 games.

The 32-year-old would leave as an unrestricted free agent and wouldn't cost a club much to acquire him. So who would be the leading contenders to sign for The Package?

St Kilda

Last season, the Saints went wild in the trade period, acquiring the likes of Sam Flanders, Liam Ryan, Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni while also retaining Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera on big money.

Stringer then poses as an easy-to-organise, low-budget option that could help St Kilda's forward line.

The 32-year-old would help add height and presence to the Saints' attack if Max King is out injured, or if King is in the side, he could work as a second fiddle alongside Mitch Owens and Cooper Sharman.

St Kilda's willingness to attack has increased this season, and a player of Stringer's physical presence and goal nous could help the club make that next step into finals in 2027.
