The AFL has confirmed next year's AFL Gather Round will run from 8-11 April.

It lines up with school holidays around the nation allowing footy fans to descend on South Australia, with next year's event to be headlined by a festival of footy for the first time on Friday afternoon.

“Gather Round has become a marquee event on the AFL calendar and we're pleased to confirm the dates for 2027, giving fans plenty of time to plan their trip to South Australia,” league boss Andrew Dillon said.

“The event continues to deliver outstanding results on and off the field, attracting hundreds of thousands of fans and generating record economic benefits for South Australia.

“We look forward to once again creating a festival of footy atmosphere across the week, including the new players' parade, and sharing more details on the fixture and Gather Round activities in the months ahead.”

More than 270,000 fans attended this year's Gather Round.

South Australia will host Gather Round until at least 2029.

The confirmation comes a month after the league announced 2027's State of Origin match will take place in Western Australia between the Black Swans and South Australia.
