Top 10 AFL Draft prospect Josh Lindsay believes he's ready for the step up to the next level after a standout season in the talent pathway.

The Geelong Falcons halfback tested at the AFL Draft National Combine on Sunday, having shown his wares for Geelong Falcons, AFL Academy and Vic Country in 2025.

“Yeah, definitely,” he said when asked if he's AFL-ready.

“I think I've put in the mountain of work in the past couple of years and even this year, I found I played consistent footy, and going into the AFL, I just want to have a consistent pre-season and really set myself up.”

Widely regarded as the best kick in the 2025 AFL Draft, Lindsay highlighted other areas of the game he's sought to build into his game this season to complement his piercing left foot.

“My kicking is my main strength, but my decision making, and I think just (having) good balance, when to be composed with the ball and when to go fast, even sort of contested and uncontested - I feel like that's something I've really developed throughout the year, and got a really good balance of," Lindsay said.

“I think (my contested game) progressed a lot.

“I didn't play much midfield stuff last year, obviously with the Falcons and AFL Academy and Vic Country, it was more sort of half back/wing role, but in school footy (and) at the start of the year, it was more midfield. And I think that really did help my contested game and not only improve it as a player on the field, but I think it went a long way this year.”

Those around Lindsay have noted the increased balance the uber-professional Geelong Falcons and Vic Country skipper has brought to his footy in 2025 which has reflected in his consistent campaign.

Best on ground performances in the U17s Futures game last year and second AFL Academy game both laid the foundation for his strong growth, while watching two AFL stars has informed his improvement.

“I like Errol Gulden - I think his contested and uncontested balances is really good and even his kicking, he's got such good composure, a really good player,” Lindsay said.

“And then lots of Hayden Young, I sort of followed him.

“The past couple years, being a half back, and he's sort of progressing to the midfield now, and that's something I like the look of.

“And you see how clean and composed he is going forward, so they're probably two players that I would like the look of.”
