The business end of footy season has arrived, and the AFL Draft Power Rankings are starting to stabilise.
With school footy wrapping up after the Under-18s Championships in recent weeks and players slowly filtering back to talent pathway programs, only a handful of new players have emerged on the scene and commanded attention, but there has been plenty of shuffling as clubs gain an increasing understanding of the sorts of selections they are likely to have access to.

The composed midfielder/winger has been in excellent form for Sandringham since returning from St Kevin's College, where he was one of his school's prime movers. What he lacks in speed, he makes up for in his ability to read the play, and he puts the ball on a platter for his forward targets. Tends to find plenty of the footy and makes his disposals count. Deserves more attention than he is getting given his output.

Capable of playing any position, Knapp has performed for every side he has lined up for in 2026 as a clean ball-winner and reliable user. Does not have any glaring weaknesses, defends well, balances contested ball-winning and outside run and makes sound decisions. Won't be the sort of player who will feature on highlight reels but will be an excellent role player.

The marking forward took out South Australia's MVP at the Under-18s Championships after storming onto the radar as a reliable goal kicker and marking target. The overager has been given league exposure in the last three weeks, and while he has kicked just two goals and averaged just six disposals, it's impossible to overlook what he did at the Championships, finishing with 17 goals as a smart and crafty marking target.

The small forward tied to Hawthorn's Academy is flying under the radar despite blazing forward. Powerful, hard-running and frenetic with his pressure, Boi makes things happen inside 50, can emerge from stoppages like few others and tends to finish his work, and is a particularly reliable set shot. Is comparable to Kysaiah Pickett with his ability to go into the midfield
HAWTHORN-TIED BOLTER REFLECTS ON RAPID RISE

A sprained ACL has sidelined LeCras for most of 2026, but in a similar mould to Wil Malady, LeCras is an athletic marking target forward of the footy who is also clean and strong at ground level. Projects as either a high forward or winger who knows how to hit the scoreboard and runs out games well.
