Adelaide captain Jordan Dawson will miss Friday's Showdown against Port Adelaide.

Dawson tragically lost his older brother, Jaryd, two weeks ago, and missed the win over St Kilda in Round 6 before returning against Brisbane last week.

The Crows skipper paid his respects to his brother in Robe on Wednesday when the funeral was held.

“He won't play tomorrow, it has been a big week for the family and the community of Robe,” Coach Matthew Nicks said.

“Yesterday was a special day, a full community not just of Robe but football clubs, golf clubs, the entire community came together and just supported the family.

“It was an emotional day but also a really important one for Jordan and his family.”

Adelaide is unsure whether Dawson will join the Crows fans in stands like he did when the club hosted the Saints at Adelaide Oval.

Nicks said he'll give Dawson as much time as he needs.

“We will give Jordan what Jordan needs, we don't know if he will come to the game tomorrow night,” he said.

“It is one of those ones, our group is reasonably mature around it and if Jordan wants to be at the game and around his teammates he did that last time and the boys were able to perform well.

“So we will give him whatever time he needs.”

Dawson's omission opens the door for Dan Curtin to return this week, while Jake Soligo is also in line to be recalled after dominating in the SANFL.
