"Absolutely".

That was the word from Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks when questioned about whether he would remain at the club if the Crows lost to the Western Bulldogs.

Nicks had been dragged through the media, with speculation building that his future hinged on the result of last week's elimination final at Adelaide Oval.

Fortunately, that scenario never eventuated as the Crows held off a valiant Bulldogs outfit by 21 points, setting up a mouth-watering semi-final against Brisbane at the Gabba.

“I've talked through that right the way through … I think part of being a good football club is ongoing conversation,” Nicks said on AFL360.

“So, I mean, I can only speak to the conversations I have with our chairman and our CEO, our board regularly, about what it is we're doing as a footy club.

“And I totally understand the speculation and the narrative that comes at this time of the year, but you've just got to look at our record over the last couple of years … where our group's at from an age demographic.

“Everything's coming together, and we still have a lot of work to do.”

Nicks assumed the top job at West Lakes in 2020, and has been on the improve ever since after the disastrous maiden campaign.

Adelaide secured back-to-back finals campaigns but failed to land a punch last year, bowing out in straight sets despite claiming the minor premiership.

But the monkey is now off the back for Nicks, who claimed his first finals win in his seven-year tenure.

Across the past two years, the Crows are one of the best sides in the competition, ranking towards the top for the most wins alongside Fremantle and Brisbane.

Adelaide games record holder Taylor Walker launched a staunch defence after the club defeated the Bulldogs last week.

Walker, immediately after the win on Channel Seven, started the confrontational chat with journalist Tom Morris by alluding to the faith he has in the Crows playing group, and what that means for the rest of their season, despite Morris' reporting.

"We've got three weeks to go, much to your disgust," Walker spat.

Morris then tried to cool the situation, before Walker doubled down.

"I'm happy for you!" Morris insisted.

"Nicksy will be here mate, don't worry about that," Walker replied.

"So talk to us about the week then, you said 'outside noise'..." Morris said.

"You started it!" Walker interrupted.

"You bet I started it! I do the news, and you won the game, and congratulations for it."

"We answered your critics, didn't we?" Walker replied.

"We're really, really stoked, mate. It was awesome."
