The 22under22 squad has been announced with some of the game's best young players getting their time to shine.

The Swans and Demons have dominated this years edition with Sydney managing to have four players make the squad while Melbourne have a massive 5 nominations.

Luke Jackson, Kysaiah Pickett, Harrison Petty, Trent Rivers and James Jordon carry the Melbourne flag in this squad with Jackson the only true ruckman in the squad. Sydney are represented by Tom McCartin, James Rowbottom, Justin McInerney and first year player Errol Gulden.

The Cats don't have any players in the original squad but that is hardly a surprise with their list demographic.

Carlton superstar Sam Walsh will look to make it three selections in three years with his form putting him at the pointy end of most major individual awards.

Despite their up-and-down season, the Suns have an equal-high five players named in the squad. Ben King, Jack Lukosius, Noah Anderson, Wil Powell and Charlie Ballard have all been named.

The official team will be announced on August 24 with fan voting to close on the 18th of August.
