Things are going from bad to worse for Richmond, with another player added to the club's long injury list.

Young star Sam Lalor is the latest Tiger to go down, with the No.1 pick from the 2024 Draft set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering an Achilles injury at training on Thursday.

Richmond reported the 19-year-old suffered a "partial Achilles injury", with his timeline to become clearer in the coming days.

"We are disappointed for Sam, whose injury occurred during training on Thursday," Tigers footy boss Tim Livingstone said.

"Sam is the consummate professional who will attack his rehab with the necessary care and commitment."

The Tigers haven't been able to take a trick on the injury front in 2026 and they now have 16 players unavailable.

Veteran midfielder Tim Taranto will miss at least another week due to concussion, while Hugo Ralphsmith won't play because of a knee issue.

Maurice Rioli and Toby Nankervis are sidelined with respective hamstring strains, Harry Armstrong (foot) will least at least another month, Sam Banks (collarbone) will be absent for a minimum of five weeks, while Josh Smillie (quad), Josh Gibcus (knee), Rhyan Mansell (foot) and Taj Hotton (hip) are out indefinitely.

The Tigers welcome back Jayden Short, Tyler Sonsie and Oliver Hayes-Brown for Saturday's Round 8 clash in Perth against the Eagles.
