GWS Giants star Jesse Hogan has confirmed his next club, with the Collingwood Magpies formalising his signature on Thursday evening for 2027.
Hogan was told by the Giants previously that he would not be offered a new contract beyond the end of 2026.
The move may not have comme as a large surprise, with the former Coleman Medal winger struggling throuigh injuries in recent times, playing just nine games in 2026.
2024 was the best year of Hogan's career, with the 31-year-old becoming an All Australian, the Coleman Medal winner, and the best player at the Giants by picking up the Kevin Sheedy Medal.
“We've seen Jesse at his best in the orange and charcoal and know what he's capable of when he's able to play with consistency,” Giants footy boss Jason McCartney said of his departure last month.
“However, as we look ahead, we believe this is the right time for Jesse to pursue a new opportunity while we continue to shape our forward line for the years ahead.
“Again, we're thankful for everything he gave our club and we wish all the best with what comes next.”
Hogan, born in Perth, stands at 196 centimetres tall and was taken at pick number two in the 1012 mini draft, but didn't debut at AFL level until the opening round of the 2015 season for the Melbourne Demons.
He went on to play 71 games for that club through to the end of 2018, booting 152 goals, before moving to Fremantle in 2019, where a two-year stint bore just 18 goals from 19 games.
His move to the Giants has seen him add 10 games, taking his career tally to 190. In that time, he has kicked 239 goals, taking him past the 400-goal barrier.
Hogan will likely go past 200 career matches in 2027 with the Magpires, currently sitting on 190.
Collingwood have not confirmed the length of Hogan's contract, other than that he will play for the club in 2027.
The Magpies had a mixed 2026 season, qualifying for the inaugural wildcard round by finishing in ninth spot with 52 points from their 23 games.
That saw the black and white bow out against the Western Bulldogs, going down by three points.
The Pies will be hoping for a return to the form that saw Hogan kick 77 goals in 2024, with the club only managing the tenth most points in the competition this year, a distant 522 behind the Sydney Swans, who scored more than any other team.
