On this week's episode of the AFL Trade Show, Aidan Cellini and Mitch Keating ran through the big trade questions for each of Collingwood, Gold Coast, GWS, St Kilda and Melbourne for the off-season. Here's what they had to say...
Collingwood: Do the Magpies consider trading Jordan De Goey?
De Goey's management is said to be assessing the open market for his client, raising questions over his future with the Magpies, who could consider parting with their premiership hero.
"It's the perfect time. If Collingwood were to strike a deal on Jordan De Goey, which could warrant a first-round pick from a rival club, now would be the time," Cellini said.
"He'll be a free agent at the end of his contract with the Pies. If [Collingwood] want to get back into the top end of this draft, then they'd have to consider getting rid of [De Goey].
"We know St Kilda have had interest in him before, and there'd be a round of clubs that could look at him as a potential match-winner."
Gold Coast: Would the Suns dare trade Christian Petracca?
With rival clubs of the beliefe that Christian Petracca could be on the move once again, Gold Coast would likely be looking at a return far lower than what they paid for the Norm Smith Medal winner last year.
"They paid so much for him to bring him in for this premiership tilt. It didn't work out that way this year, but they've still got a strong list," Cellini said.
"The Scott Pendlebury inclusion is a big factor (that could see Petracca stay)."
GWS: How much should the Giants push for Tim English?
The future of English has been heavily speculated on this year, with the Giants seen as a potential landing spot for the ruckman. With very few star players keen to join the Giants, should GWS be chips in on the All-Australian?
"They're in a precarious position, and whether they see themselves contending. They're getting rid of a lot of experienced guys," Keating said.
"But how hard do they push for a ruckman who actually wants to come to your club, when you don't get a lot of players who want to come and join you? It's worked really well for guys like Jesse Hogan, Clayton Oliver and Jake Stringer, who were on the cutting room floor.
"So for Tim English, if he really wants to go to Sydney, how strong should GWS really be thinking about this move?
"... what we know is that no player isn't up for a trade. You can always satisfy a club if you have the capital to do so."
St Kilda: How much is the looming Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera call going to impact the club's 2026 plans?
With Wanganeen-Milera unsigned beyond 2027, do the Saints get aggressive this year as insurance, or be sure they have the money set aside for their bid to retain their star man?
"Everything (revolves) around Nas. It was big for their off-season last year when they got him re-signed," Keating said.
"But that two-year deal expires at the end of next year. So how much of a focus can they have on hoping he's going to be there beyond 2027? How much can you afford to tread water, or do you have to be really active in this space, as you could potentially lose him?
"But if you put too much money towards these other assets, how much money are you going to have to keep him?
"So his call, which will come in the next 12 months, is having implications on what they do now as well as what they do going forward."
Melbourne: Which recruits get the Demons to the next stage of the club's list build?
With Melbourne having interest in the likes of Will McLachlan, Sam Marshall, Calsher Dear, Bailey Macdonald and Zane Duursma, the cheaper trade targets could help the Demons construct a list that will become attractive to star players in the future.
"It's certainly a sustainable way to build. They've got some key pieces in Kysaiah Pickett and Max Gawn, who, despite being close to the end of his career, remains a focal point of the Melbourne Football Club," Cellini said.
"You get a lot of youth and B-grade players around them, and then you get to the point where you become a very attractive (landing spot); you can start looking at the A-graders."
