Greater Western Sydney 11.10 (76) def. Sydney Uni 10.6 (66)

In what was a back-and-forth battle between Greater Western Sydney and Sydney Uni, the Giants dug deep in the second half and triumphed, securing a 10-point win over Sydney Uni.

A number of players showed positive signs, with Isaac Cumming playing aggressively, rebound after rebound from defence. Shane Mumford also dominated, putting on a string performance in the ruck over the past two weeks in the NEAFL. Whilst he is suspended from the AFL, Mumford was cleared to play in the NEAFL whilst serving his suspension. Mumford was handed a two-match ban, commencing at the beginning of the 2019 season.

The Giants' Nick Haynes returned from a back injury and was able to play out the entirety of the match. Whilst first-round draftee, Jackson Hateley, who suffered from illness during the week, was able to play out three quarters of the game.
