Richmond's injury list has only extended over the weekend, with defender Jayden Short now in doubt for the Tigers' next game due to a calf issue.
Short was subbed out of Sunday's loss to West Coast after 'tweaking' his calf, with the premiership Tiger set to have scans on the ailment on Monday.
The injury comes as Richmond deal with 11 players in their casualty ward, a tally that grew after young forward Judson Clarke's season was brought to an end after suffering an ACL rupture in the VFL on Saturday.
Jacob Hopper (knee), Tim Taranto (wrist), Tom Lynch (hamstring), Dylan Grimes (wrist), Josh Gibcus (knee), Noah Balta (knee), Dion Prestia (hamstring) and James Trezise (ankle) are among the list of hampered Tigers, with most still needing close to a month of recovery at the very least.
Speaking after the loss at Optus Stadium, coach Adem Yze said Short is in some doubt to face Melbourne on Anzac Day eve in ten days' time.
"He's tweaked his calf," the Tigers coach explained.
"So he'll get a scan tomorrow, hopefully it's not too bad. We consider playing him through it, but he's too important for us.
"He might miss one (game), so we'll see with the scan."
Richmond might regain Hopper, who is in a race against time to be fit for Round 7 given the Wednesday night draw, while Grimes is one who can be expected to be available to return.
The absence of needed experience has afforded Yze to give his emerging ranks some good experience in the top flight, with the Tigers' upcoming bye a chance to "freshen up".
"We've got a ten-day break now. I've just spoken to the players, we need a bit of a freshen-up. The break has come at a nice time," Yze added.
"Hopefully (we get a few players back). At this stage Jacob Hopper might be available, so we might get a couple. Dylan Grimes might be available.
"To get some experience back in the side is obviously going to be handy for us. But some of our younger players had some opportunity. Kane McAuliffe, in what was realistically his first game, got an opportunity to play against Elliot Yeo and Tim Kelly with full midfield minutes.
"Thomson Dow, who's still a young midfielder, I thought he started terrifically today. So while we're going through a bit of adversity, our younger players are getting an opportunity.
"We'll keep giving them that opportunity, but hopefully we get a couple (players) back next game."
The Tigers have slipped to 15th on the ladder in the wake of their fifth defeat of 2024, with a meeting against a contending Demons side to come next on April 24 at the MCG.
