Adelaide utility Dan Curtin has a chance to make an unexpected return to football this weekend.

Teammate Taylor Walker revealed that Curtin is ahead of schedule in his rehab from a serious knee injury he suffering in the pre-season, saying on Triple M, "he will be a massive chance to come back this week, obviously the last little box to tick is Thursday main training".

The 20-year-old suffered a dislocated left kneecap in a preseason training game, which resulted in Curtin undergoing knee surgery in late January.

The Crows first listed Curtin out for 8-12 weeks, but as of Round 5, he was still supposedly 4-6 weeks away, which meant the earliest we could see him would be Round 9. Now it seems the rising star will be back on the field this week.

Curtin is a part of Adelaide's best 23, but we may see him hit the field first in the SANFL, according to Walker: "If I were a betting man, he would have a go in the magoos, and we'll go from there."

Curtin will be looking to have a bigger role in the midfield after his sensational rookie season, and look to help the Crows move up the ladder after a three-win and three-loss start to the season.
