The Western Bulldogs are set to close in on a contract extension for captain Marcus Bontempelli, while Richmond has begun talks with Tom Lynch about life after 2025.
Bontempelli has been in talks with the Bulldogs about keeping him in the tricolours, despite a laughable attempt from Collingwood to lure him to the AIA Centre amid delayed talks.
The firm belief is the six-time All-Australian will recommit to the club he won a flag with in 2016, and Western Bulldogs president Kylie Watson-Wheeler confirmed the announcement is "imminent".
"With Marcus' contract extension imminent, I'm delighted to say that we can all look ahead with stability and certainty," Watson-Wheeler confirmed earlier this week.
"We recently announced the two-year contract extension for Luke Beveridge as our senior coach.
"Bevo's acumen and proven ability to motivate our players and unwavering commitment to our club power our belief that he is the leader who can deliver sustainable success.
"I'm excited about the potential of this team and what it can achieve under Bevo's stewardship."
Tigers coach Adem Yze also revealed that the club have begun talks with Lynch about extending his time at Punt Road beyond 2025.
The former Sun is currently serving a five-game suspension for a strike on Adelaide's Jordon Butts, which won't act as a deterrent to keep the veteran forward in the yellow and black.
"No doubt (he'll be here next year)," Yze said on Friday.
"Blair (Hartley - Richmond GM of Football Talent) is having those discussions with him right now. Like I said, this incident, and the one week that he's had, is never going to dent anything that he's done.
"The guidance he's giving some of our younger forwards is going to be really important, not only for next year, but for years to come. He's going to be an important part of the next few years."
