Western Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has reportedly checked into an interstate health retreat in the hope of turning around his football career.
Ugle-Hagan has taken indefinite leave from the game after a tumultuous six months, dealing with personal matters that have plagued his year to date.
The 23-year-old's step in his rehabilitation has been deemed a positive step towards a return, according to the Herald Sun, with Ugle-Hagan still contracted at the Bulldogs until the end of 2026.
The Whitten Oval club has been adamant that Ugle-Hagan's health and wellbeing remain a priority, and that he'll be given as much time as he needs to recover.
"Jamarra's health and wellbeing remains the absolute priority, and he will be given whatever time he needs," Western Bulldogs football boss Sam Power said in a club statement late last month.
"We will continue to support Jamarra throughout this period."
The former Pick 1 has been training away from the club, taking to social media to show his boxing and fitness work in Melbourne.
The Bulldogs have attempted to reintergrate Ugle-Hagan into the training program earlier in the year, including spending time with the VFL side.
The uncertainty around the goalkicker's future has driven speculation around rival clubs making a play for the talented forward.
Geelong was initially flagged as a potential landing spot outside the Melbourne bubble. The Cats also have a strong history in assisting players reach their potential after checkered pasts.
Sydney is also perceived as an ideal location for Ugle-Hagan, who could slot into the Rugby League-crazed state.
The Swans are desperate for a key forward after the retirement of Lance Franklin, with duo Joel Amartey and Logan McDonald yet to reach the heights expected of them.
However, Ugle-Hagan's contract until the end of 2026 could complicate any trades at season's end.
