Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has cast doubt over Murphy Reid for Round 24 after confirmation earlier in the week he would miss Friday night's clash.
Reid suffered a groin knock against Melbourne and it would be a less than ideal scenario for him to miss the last two games of the home and away season.
“It's hard to tell. There is a possibility he'll miss next week as well.,” Longmuir said on Triple M on Friday.
“It happened in the first quarter and it shows me he had a fair bit of ticker to play through that and he was in a bit of pain at stages throughout the game.
“Unfortunately it will cost him this week and maybe next week but that will be the extent of it.”
Given Fremantle won't play in Wildcard Round, it would mean he would go into finals after three weeks without playing, having not previously missed an AFL game since his debut.
The reigning Rising Star winner is in contention for an All Australian blazer and has regularly stood up in big moments this year.
Longmuir offered an insight into his growth after his recent contract extension, tying him to the club until 2032.
"He's come in and done really well. He's a young man in a hurry," Longmuir said.
"He played most of his junior footy as a midfielder and he's had to come in and learn some aspects of playing as a small forward. In some aspects him playing as a midfielder, he can hunt the footy and get drawn into the footy and as a forward you need to know when to come into the footy and when to lengthen and create space for others.
"A little bit of running pattern stuff has taken time but he's so smart and adaptive and clearly when he gets the ball in his hands, we haven't had to teach him too much. He's a great decision-maker, brilliant skills.
"It's probably just running patterns and defensive stuff but he's very coachable."
