Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge was the subject of alleged threats and extortion by a 53-year-old man, according to The Age.

The report indicated a man allegedly sent letters to Beveridge between June 27 and 28, which could be an explanation for the extra security he was with days later at a clash against North Melbourne.

"Magistrate Donna Bakos moved to issue a warrant for (alleged offender's) arrest on Tuesday morning, after he failed to appear in court for a scheduled hearing in the case," The Age said.

The courts revealed the offender failed to appear in court on two occasions in October, and had not complied with his bail commitments.

"I don't issue warrants ever lightly. We explore all possibilities as we should … and I think I've exhausted all those possibilities," Bakos said.

He is charged with making an unwarranted demand for money with menace and using a postal service in a manner that could be regarded as menacing.

The alleged threats follows unrelated incidents involving Cartlon coach Michael Voss and former Melbourne mentor Simon Goodwin.

Goodwin received an online threat via social media on X following a loss to St Kilda in July.

The account named 'Kozzy Owns You' posted an image of a car in a car park, along with the accompanying caption: "I'm currently waiting outside Simon Goodwin's car: Don't fret, Melbourne fans, you won't need to worry any further."

As for Voss, he was sent a message thourgh the MCG's anti-social hotline service during a loss to arch rivals Collingwood earlier in July.

The message, directed at Voss, is reportedly in reference to a "brutal end to his life", but is currently not being deemed as a credible death warning.

The threat was referred to the MCG security team and the AFL integrity unit, which saw the Pies member banned for five years.
