West Coast star Dom Sheed will sit out the remainder of the 2022 season with the club announcing on Monday night that a stress related lower-leg injury would bring an end to his campaign.

Sheed managed just one game this season back in Round 14 in the Eagles' loss to Geelong.

An ankle injury in pre-season originally kept the 2018 Grand Final hero out of the struggling West Coast side.

Football Manager Gavin Bell said that the club felt for Sheed who had overcome a serious injury once already this year.

"After putting in so much hard work to get back to playing after his ankle injury it's really unfortunate for both Dom and the club that he will miss the remainder of the season," Bell said in a statement.

Sheed will likely be joined on the sideline by defender Elliot Yeo who suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's defeat at the hands of Richmond.

The Eagles had just started to put together something close to their full compliment with ruckman Nic Naitanui returning in style last weekend.

West Coast host Carlton at Optus Stadium at 4:40pm (AEST) on Sunday.
