The career of Collingwood veteran Daniel Wells hangs in the balance, with the 34-year-old set to meet with his surgeon on Sunday in a bid to determine the best course of action on his injured knee, according to AFL.com.au.

Wells suffered posterior cruciate ligament damage on Friday night, after booting three goals in the first half of the Pies' win over Sydney.

Surgery would likely rule the 34-year-old out of the remainder of the 2019 season, and as he's halfway through the least year of his Collingwood deal, his career would be up in the air.

Despite moving to the Pies at the end of the 2016 season, Wells has managed just 15 games for the club.
