Josh Kennedy has been handed a one-week suspension from the MRO after Friday night's late hit on Carlton's Sam Docherty.

The MRO charged Kennedy with striking, grading the incident as Careless Conduct, Medium Impact, High Contact and a one-week suspension as a first offence.

The second-quarter incident left both players worse for wear, with Docherty requiring a short stint on the sidelines before returning to the field, while the former Swans skipper was substituted from the game after suffering a hamstring injury in the contest.

Sydney coach John Longmire spoke about the 33-year-old's injury after the match, conceding the veteran would be spending a few weeks on the sidelines.

"They said it was a bad hamstring," Longmire told media post-game.

"I don't think there's ever such thing as a good hamstring but if they say it's a bad hamstring it's going to be quite a few weeks you'd imagine."

The match review also handed down two fines after Friday night's proceedings, with Liam Stocker and Chad Warner both being charged with wresting after their own second-quarter incident.

Stocker can accept a $1500 fine as a second offence, while Warner is looking at a $1000 sanction.
