'Razor' Ray Chamberlain is back.
The charismatic AFL umpire is set to make his return to the football field, exiting retirement to adjudicate games in the women's competition, starting with Sunday's clash between St Kilda and Carlton at Marvel Stadium.
Chamberlain retired at the end of 2024 from the AFL after 389 games, 31 finals and three grand finals.
While he has "no desire" to rejoin the men's competition, the well-known whistleblower will return to the umpiring ranks to help the next generation through their development.
“I won't lie, there'll be a few butterflies because you want to do it well and do a good job,” Chamberlain told SEN.
“The Chamberlain Foundation, my brothers and I, we've got a long-standing history of supporting the Danny Frawley Centre, and we've got a great relationship with Chelsea (Frawley) and the family, and I'm looking forward to supporting Spud's Game on the weekend.
“It's not ‘look at me'. There's a need there, and I do love umpiring AFLW,” Chamberlain said.
“It's actually great fun; you want to do it well, and you want to support what they're doing.”
Chamberlain has held prominent media roles since he hung up the whistle, joining Fox Footy's AFL360 on a weekly basis to provide an umpire's perspective on the game.
