GWS swingman Harry Himmelberg is set to be an in-demand name throughout the course of 2023, with as many as three clubs believed to be showing some level of interest in the free agent.

Himmelberg has placed a priority on his football through the opening half of the season, with a call on his future likely to come later into the year while clubs continue to monitor the 26-year-old's situation with the Giants.

One of just seven restricted free agents this year, joining the likes of Darcy Parish, Ben McKay and Mason Redman, Himmelberg's ability to play at either end of the field is sure to be a big lure for rival clubs.

Sydney have already been touted as an interested suitor for Himmelberg, with the Swans potentially looking to add to their attacking third with the potential retirement of Lance Franklin.

According to 7 News reporter Mitch Cleary, Richmond and Brisbane are expected to join the Swans in expressing interest in Himmelberg.

"There are a lot of clubs chasing him," Cleary told the Tradies podcast of Himmelberg.

"I'd have Sydney and Richmond right at the pointy end for Harry Himmelberg.

"...Not discounting a little dark horse in Brisbane. The family is up in Brisbane, they've moved around quite a bit."

Much like the Swans, Richmond's interest would come as the Tigers potentially look to find a successor in their front half, with triple premiership spearhead Jack Riewoldt set to turn 35 later this year.

Brisbane may see Himmelberg as a defensive asset amid Marcus Adams' uncertain playing future due to an ongoing battle with concussion. The Lions have struggled to find support for Harris Andrews in defence, with Darcy Gardiner another player battling injury issues.

GWS coach Adam Kingsley recently stated Himmelberg's signature is "an enormous priority" for the New South Wales club, who are hoping to retain the Wagga Wagga native as part of their list rebuild.

"It's an enormous priority for us," Kingsley said. "He's clearly a really important player for us and will be for a long period of time.

"I'm not aware of the update with that. I presume we're still in discussions with him. But I'm fully confident that Harry will be a Giant from next year and beyond.

"We're just concentrating on playing good football at the moment, trying to win games and build our season."

Himmelberg has played 133 games for the Giants, booting 156 goals for the club.
